On average, an 8-ounce cup of black tea contains approximately 14-80 mg of caffeine. However, some types of black tea may have higher caffeine levels, up to 90 mg per 8-ounce cup. When you steep tea for a longer period, more caffeine is typically extracted from the tea leaves, resulting in a higher caffeine content in the brewed tea.
